Heron takes up residence

It's incredible how statuesque herons look. The one which has taken up residence by the new pond stands absolutely motionless - but that's not really surprising since it's made of plastic.

 Our new heron This was a birthday present from my wife's brother and family; we are all hoping that this fellah will keep the real thing at bay. Most birds are easily fooled, even by crude imitations; and this one is pretty convincing. I'm a bit concerned that a permanent heron might worry the other garden birds and pond wildlife, but the indications, so far, are that they will rapidly become accustomed to it.
